Black LIves Matter: Statement on George Floyd's Killing
George Floyd. Breonna Taylor. Ahmaud Arbery. We say these names and countless others because we stand as an organization with a mission to advocate for the health and safety of all. Ahmaud Arbery was not safe on a run. Breonna Taylor was not safe at home. George Floyd was not safe on the street. Black people across America are not safe because we live in a society built on racial marginalization. We believe that dismantling white supremacy is work we must all undertake to achieve health equity.
PPE4CC was founded in response to one pandemic. Racism, in all its forms, is another. These pandemics are not unrelated: Black people are twice as likely to die of COVID-19 than other races. Unearned advantage contributes to the health disparities for all people of color.
We commit to respond to the plagues of oppression and implicit and explicit bias by listening, unlearning, and learning. We know that our actions moving forward are, by necessity, a work in progress. Join us in this walk.
Commissioned by PPE4CC and designed by Dina Clark, these infographics are free to the public. This design demonstrates how and when to wear/wash a cloth face mask. It also includes visuals showing basic COVID-19 prevention strategies like staying home while sick, wearing masks while in public, and maintaining social distancing.
